Financial fight against life and death
Financial fight against life and death

Mama J. is married to Dad F. and together they have three children; two boys and one girl. Dad F. has kidney failure which makes wife J. to be the bread winner of the family. The family of J. was referred to Holistic in 2023 by a friend. At the time, the family was struggling and J. was working several jobs in the shopping center to make ends meet. She was also working as a cleaner in a pharmacy so she could get medication for her husband. When our case manager went to review the case and presented it to the board, the family was enrolled into our Empowerment program. We took the family through the Holistic family enrollment steps; Introduction to the organization policy, children rights and they had to bring the chief’s letter and sign the commitment contract. Afterward they were taken through the book keeping training. During this period, F. was not feeling well and Holistic could come in once in a while to cater for his dialysis equipment when the hospital could not provide. J. requested Holistic to open a shop for her; this will also help F. to have something to do. After J. had met all the criteria required for a family to be empowered, a shop was opened for the family and on top of this a small kitchen garden. The kitchen garden contained vegetables that F. could eat therefore reducing the food expenditure for the family. The progress of the family has been remarkable and the business is doing well. J. has been able to rest and take care of her husband whose health is not stable. Holistic families is also planning on opening a green grocery for the family as a supplement to the shop business. This will enable the family to afford medication for F. which at the moment is being catered for by Holistic Families. We are happy with the progress.
